White mailbox gives clean and beauty accent in our yard. It also can be used as a focal point in our green front yard or garden. However, having white mailbox will need more maintenance than other mailbox colors. White mailbox is easily getting dirt, whether it is from weather, dust, rust, mold, mildew or even the irresponsible hands. White mailbox can be made from many materials like wood, plastic, aluminum or iron.
The wooden white mailbox will suffer from mold and mildew. The growth of mold and mildew will easily appear there. As a consequent, we have to regularly clean it by removing the appeared mold and mildew. Then, we have to also repaint it to keep it gorgeous. When we have plastic white mailbox, we also have to clean it regularly. We can wipe the mailbox with a sponge and a mix of a few drops of dish soap and warm water. Then, we can rinse the mailbox with plain water and dry with paper towels. Meanwhile, to remove mold and mildew, we can spray the mailbox with distilled white vinegar. Then, we can scrub it with a nylon scrubber or soft-bristled brush and rinse it with clean water. We can prevent the growth of mold and mildew by spraying a layer of vinegar. Besides, it is better if we do not use abrasive cleansers or steel wool to clean the mailbox, since they can scratch the plastic mailbox.
Meanwhile, when we have iron or aluminum white mailbox, they will easily suffer from rust. To clean it, we can apply a rust-removing basic cleaning agent on to the rusted areas on our mailbox. We can apply light, cooking or multi-purpose oil. We can scrub the area with a slightly abrasive tool and fine-grade brass wool and clean with warm water. When it dry, we can repaint the mailbox white.
